Hi, There!
Life at the Nursing Home isn't too bad once you get used to it, you know.
Beats the hell out of sleeping outdoors, doesn't it?
I have even bought myself some items that include a little television set and, most important of all, a Digital TV Converter, or DTV.
Not to be confused with HDTV, though.
HDTV is High Definition Television and refers to the vastly improved picture in the form of tiny pixels (dots) on the more expensive tv's. Needless to say, the tv stations have to broadcast in HDTV in order for one to receive HDTV. Most Broadcasts are still in SDTV (Standard Definition Television).
DTV (Digital Television) is a monkey of a different kind.
Ever since the beginning of television, all broadcast stations used the Analog Carrier Wave to send programming to the tv.
But now the Government has decided to upgrade the whole business and use Digital Transmission method which requires a different receiver if you want to keep the old sets that use only the antenna (rabbit ears or roof top ). If you have cable or dish, you don't have to worry.
I absolutely love the incredibly clear picture and great sound I get. Minor problems involving reception sometimes occurs, but I have dealt with that by getting a powered antenna to pull in the weak channels. I also get a few more channels that I have never seen on regular tv.
Sad thing is, without the converter, get nothing if you use an antenna only.
Diagnosis: Great! This conversion gets high marks in my book. If you need one, get Insignia's version. They have a remote that also turns off your tv, eliminating the need for both remotes.
Well, that's enough for now. See you next time!
