I've been meaning to write a post reminding everyone just what this blog is about. Sometimes an old man can forget exactly what must be done on a day in day out basis. So I am must ask your patience, okay?
As I have been saying for sometime now, I feel strongly that homeless people are severely misunderstood.
The main misunderstanding centers around the abstract notion as to the cause of homelessness and how to solve it. I personally am aware of the fact that my people (those known as Blacks) were robbed of their actually home, Africa. Upon arrival here in this country, whole tribes were, family by family, separated and remain so today. Add to the sad situation the practice of owning divided parcels of land (strange and terrible practice, for sure), and you have those who can't pay the owner rent.
Most Native Americans couldn't pay, so they lost the land. Is there a solution? None in sight, to tell the truth. The drug addicts who choose to leave or are booted out of their homes are not truly homeless. A correction of their habits, and they could go back home.
A truly homeless person is a person without a family base, where living with the "folks" is a not an option to get back on one's feet.
All that said, I believe that a person can still get up by one's bootstraps in this Great Country by using this wonderful resource; the Internet.
