TV Madness!

Hey Fellow Survivors!

Lately, I've been trying to watch some of the stuff on Television and it just make me feel so damn old because I just don't get it.

What the hell are all the Vampire Shows about, eh? Little skinny white dudes with overbites throwing each other around like rag dolls while playing the poor little innocent girls. They are just lonely, misunderstood predators who need love like everyone else.

Yeah Right!

Do all of them have to be attractive because they want to attract the prey? How about just ugly and disgusting?

And do the teeth have to be in the mouth, for tasting the blood?

Why not in the elbow and the guy becomes a hockey player (obviously for a short time)?

How about hidden mosquito barb that kills the vampire the first and last time it bites.

I'm waiting to see the “Ass Cheek Vampire”!!

His or her “teeth” are in their hands so when they “goose” an unfortunate passerby, the vampire gets a little snack and the victim barely notices it, thinking it was a pinch. About 20 or 30 of these makes a meal.

Yummy!!

Do vampires have zits? Engaging minds want to know! How about overweight vampires? Are they forced to go on a diet? “Skip a victim or two a day and you'll lose all that Bloody weight.” (Drum roll , please!)

Blade's vampires seemed a little bite more reasonable and imaginative where the vampires were the victims for a change.

What happened to that prime-time vampire soap opera (forgot it's name) that was on tv? “One Life to Live” could mean something much more sinster with vamps as the leading characters.

Well, that's it, that's all I got.

Till next time!

I Long For The Old Daze..

Hello Everybody!

Been a while since I posted to my blog, but I am working hard to overcome that problem, like many others, these days.

For some reason, I am feeling somewhat sad and melancholy, today.

My thoughts have been on the past, mostly. My formative years in the Boys Home in particular.

Growing Up in Foster Homes was rough in those days, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel when I arrived at Lawrence Hall, Home for Boys. The year was 1965 and I was being delivered there because I was an angry youth (about 13 years old).

It was my first time living in such a big building. There were three floors and the basement, and this wasn't just a place to sleep, it was a place of adventure and fun. Out back there was a huge yard (5 acres, I think) and a large pool to splash in during the summer.

That great old building is gone now, and along with it the wonderful people who I used to look up to. Ms. Tansy Johnson, who I had I slight crush on, Mr. Davis, the Boxer, who always managed to control us by out-boxing us all (Boxing was the thing back then); Mr. Little, a huge gorilla-like man who used to wake up everybody by snatching one foot and half-dragging us out of bed. There were others , but these I remember the most. I miss them.

Everyday, we'd run downstairs to the Cafeteria and joke with each other as we ate. I remember they used to feed us well.

The neighborhood was on the mid- north side of Chicago, which was in the throes of desegregation at the time, and going to school was full of it's own challenges. I was always made to be aware of my color by the kids and some of the adults in the area, but it didn't seem to impact me a great deal.

I had two rooms during my stay there, one one the front of the building and the other at the back. I remember watching with puzzlement as the old folks from around the neighborhood would dig up the weeds in the backyard for what was called “Poke Salad”.

In the front was an awesome building that is still there, part of the Water Reclamation works. There was something mystical and serene about that building. Clean and Mysterious. Next to it was the Chicago River.

When they torn down the grand old building, a part of my heart was damaged forever. I guess I have been making up for it's lost by living in this Nursing Home, which is similar, in many ways, to Lawrence Hall.

Hey Buddy, You Got A Computer?

Friends and Neighbors.
What's Up!

As I sit here, zoned on my high-blood pressure medication, I'm banging away on my ancient computer, hoping it doesn't stop sticking and just quit altogether. It's holding together with spit and bubble gum. Internet is so slow, that on some pages I have to wait 5 to 10 minutes for any reaction.

I say that to ask for your help.

Are you about to upgrade? Don't throw out your old pc or laptop. Give it to me! I don't care much for looks, but my main concern is that it works!
Broken or not, let me have it!
My poor computer is on it's last leg.
Enough begging for now
If you really have one for me and you live in the Chicago, IL area, drop me an email at lee3way@gmail.com and I'll pick it up.
For real, now! No joke!
You'd be doing an old man a great service.
Thanks. See ya next Time!

Sex Scandals: Are We Still On That?

(AP Photo/Julie Jacobson)
Hi Friends and Neighbors!
With the need to worry about basic survival on hold for a while, your ole HBM finds himself in front of a tv and plummeted with the endless stories of some media magnet who has had sex with other than their chosen (or given ) mate.
It seems to me that we have talked about this before and my take on all this is the same.
Ho Hum!
There are far worst things to be concerned with than attempting to regulate where political figures, sports and movie stars and other entertainers bump uglies.
If half as much energy were put into solving other problems, the Middle East situation would no longer be a concern.
I worry just a little that our values are highly misplaced, and I guess this has to do with my experience out there in the streets for so many years.
In this place, there are people who are diagnosed with obsessive/compulsive disorder. If many of the media people were looked at closely, they suffer from the same disorder, but never truly checked because of the power of the Press they wield.
I can't believe the large number of people who listen to such garbage over and over. I hope my readers aren't among them.
Well, enough for now, see you later!

When Are You Really Homeless?

Hey There, My Friends!

It has occurred to me recently to question the notion of homelessness. After many hours of group sessions and endless discussions on the topic, one thing jumped out at me.
Just who the hell said I was homeless when I was out there?
Oh sure, it was true that I didn't have anyplace to call my own. And yes, you could reasonably call me a person without a home (homeless).
But it is also still true today!
I still don't have a home since I can still be kicked out of here at any time.
That may sound a bit insecure, and you would be right, but in cold reality, it is true.
I find myself inside this place because I had to find shelter, not from the elements, but from the average sheltered person! Those who wanted right to do this old man in just for the fun of it.
Otherwise my home was the outside.
Don't be angry at me for thinking this way. My effort was to live as free as I could and still not be a burden on anyone.
Anyway, I was at home outside! I was close to completing my process on how to sleep outside in my large sleeping bag with some kind of warming device when I was goaded into moving inside to the Nursing Home.
This is a very deep subject and in the following days I am going to follow up on this subject.
In the Meantime, stay warm and safe, people!!

That's Right! I'm Baaaack!

Hi Good Friends and Fans!

Yes, Yes. I know.
You thought the old HBM had bit the big one somewhere; his crusty toes curled up in a ditch or fell into the Lake Michigan, there to play the bad-ass fish down below forever.
Not! (Thanks to the Almighty One!!!!)
I am still here at this Nursing Home, which for me is a good thing. Oh sure, There are times when I wish I wasn't here at all, when the nurses get on my last nerves and that DAMN INTERCOM drives me to distraction, but all in all, it's a good thing!
Overall, Nursing Homes get a bad rap. And I just happen to get into one of the better ones. It has been my lastest observation that the poor nurses and assistants are really underpaid to do what they do.
There is no way I would do it. A person has got to know their limitations.
"Residents", as we are loosely called, can be a big-ass headache most of the time.
A large number of residents suffer from some sort of mental and psychological disorder, like Bi-polar and dementia. Others have physical problems requiring constant supervision and maintenance over a long period of time.
Whether mental or physical, we are lumped here together, which produces a great deal of stress.
God bless the Nurses and assistants, but they can have that job.

As for me, I have access to a computer and will restart and continue my blog for as long as I can, because there is no way of telling what the future will bring.
Later!

Mad Killer on the Loose!

Hi to All Loyal readers and Friends!

Today I must get something off of my chest, so to speak.

It's about those recent murders of Jennifer Hudson's family. I am angry and sad at the same time.

As usual for me, I fail to understand the thinking involved that would allow a person to kill another. The last victim to be killed in the family was a 7-year old boy!

A 7-year old boy, for Christ's Sake!!

Naturally, my heart goes out to Jennifer and her family in this time of shock and grief. Stay Strong, Young Lady!

Stay Strong!

I'll See you next time. Bye, Bye!

Big Money Problems

Hey, There!

The title refers to the USA's financial troubles. I used to think it was really bad that I owed just $5,000.00 before I became homeless. I can't even conceptualize 700 billion dollars in one place, much less the over One Trillion Dollars they say is needed to bail out some the biggest financial companies in American history!
The Giants are falling all over the place!
Scary as hell, Boyee!
I have an angry white friend who's trying to find blame some to justify his rage. He' s out of work at present and has little to do other than rant about the financial shape of the country.
I get the feeling he really doesn't know what he's talking about; he's just unhappy, like a lot of us are, about the State of the Union, so to speak.
I keep thinking should things go entirely bad and I, like many others, be forced outside, at least I can show some experience on outdoor living.
I hope it doesn't come to that.
There is little that a person with no assets can say about all, but pray daily on the subject and hope that Almighty God takes care of it.
A Big Shoutout to the survivors of this years storms. That is the second thing I must pray about, daily.
Goodbye and be safe out there!

(By the way. For those looking to get the $40.00 discount for the coverter boxes, but just happen gave to the wrong address (people who give a nursing home address as the principle address will be rejected), it is best to go through a family or friend and use their address. Then have it shipped to the nursing home!

See? There's a way of doing everything. Bye again!)

Get Those TV's Set Up, People!

Hi, There!

Life at the Nursing Home isn't too bad once you get used to it, you know.

Beats the hell out of sleeping outdoors, doesn't it?

I have even bought myself some items that include a little television set and, most important of all, a Digital TV Converter, or DTV.

Not to be confused with HDTV, though.

HDTV is High Definition Television and refers to the vastly improved picture in the form of tiny pixels (dots) on the more expensive tv's. Needless to say, the tv stations have to broadcast in HDTV in order for one to receive HDTV. Most Broadcasts are still in SDTV (Standard Definition Television).

DTV (Digital Television) is a monkey of a different kind.

Ever since the beginning of television, all broadcast stations used the Analog Carrier Wave to send programming to the tv.

But now the Government has decided to upgrade the whole business and use Digital Transmission method which requires a different receiver if you want to keep the old sets that use only the antenna (rabbit ears or roof top ). If you have cable or dish, you don't have to worry.

I absolutely love the incredibly clear picture and great sound I get. Minor problems involving reception sometimes occurs, but I have dealt with that by getting a powered antenna to pull in the weak channels. I also get a few more channels that I have never seen on regular tv.
Sad thing is, without the converter, get nothing if you use an antenna only.

Diagnosis: Great! This conversion gets high marks in my book. If you need one, get Insignia's version. They have a remote that also turns off your tv, eliminating the need for both remotes.

Well, that's enough for now. See you next time!

Just Checking In, Folks

Hi Readers, Far and Wide!

I must apologize for not keeping up with my blog here. Things have been slightly out of my control, lately.
This Nursing Home I'm in demands that I attend what they call a "program". It's a place I am forced to go daily where I sit and vegetate for 4 hours among the seriously disturbed residents of other Nursing Homes.
I am learning a lot about the reality of life at the low end of it all. Ever wonder what happens to the sad mentally-imbalanced people that are seen daily on the streets of Chicago?
You know who I mean.
The ones who mumble to themselves and make odd gestures at the sky. The obsessive-compulsive people. They and everyone like them must live somewhere. They are still human beings any way it goes.
I used to know this guy, years ago, who had the habit of smacking himself in the forehead with his fist as he conversed with people. You could feel the impact of his calloused knuckle against darkened spot in the middle of his forehead.
He wasn't stupid or ignorant. He was a College graduate. Could hold a deep discussion with anyone on many different subjects. It was just that head thing that kept him out of the job market.
It's no wonder people were upset about the movie "Tropic Thunder" and the use in it's script of the word "retard" said over and over again!
Only those who take care of poor suffers ( of an astonishing number of mental problems) would be aware of the insult that the use of the word "retard" slaps in the face of the caregivers and loved ones.
But enough for now. I will try to be more consistent in delivering these questionable nuggets of wisdom that seep out of my poor gray head.
Until Next Time! Bye, Bye!

Nursing Home Chronicles

Hi to the Real World Out There!

I suppose you have guessed by the title that I feel somewhat locked down at the nursing home, and you would be right!

Don't misunderstand me. I love being indoors for a spell. No carrying heavy bags around; no idiot responses on the bus or train as you travel; no worrying about where to sleep at night.

Oh, I'm not complaining. I just wish there was some way to get out when I want.

I recognize the need to protect the residents here. There are a great many infirm individuals here and the increase of predators is no mistake, after all.

I just hope there might be room for thinking staff members to evaluate residents on their behaviour and not follow mindless scripts.

I worry just a bit about what will happen to the homeless now and after the Presidential election. It seems there is not much that any of the candidates would care to do about it. This could be just another President who would rather ignore the problem rather than deal positively with it.
Well, I've ranted enough for now. See you next time.
Bye-Bye!

Open Season on Black Folks.

Hi, everybody!

Been a few weeks since I got into this place and I must admit to feeling much better, healthwise.
What the hell is happening to our kids, especially in Chicago, eh?
I'm quite suspicious, to say the least, of this sudden increase in violence in the Black Neighborhood. Where are they getting the weapons from? More drugs, more guns, more prostitutes.
What's really going on?
I can't help but feel that the main problem is blanket law designed to protect children. It
has parents afraid to physically discipline theirs.
A simple check will confirm that fact that in earlier years ( in the neighborhood, when parents were allowed to spank, their kids), killing of each other, and just murder in general was very rare. I feel strongly that a return to those days would ensure a better future for the most part.
Yes, there will be victims of excessive abuse, but few and far between.
On the other hand, we have this proof at hand today that such a well meaning program has failed us very badly. Either they get killed or go to overcrowded jails. The end of this madness cannot justify the means.
Think about it.

News Flash! Everyone Has Sex, Alright?

Hey Everyone!

(picture from handwritinguniversity.com)
What the hell is all this commotion about political leaders having sex, eh?
O'kay, maybe it's extra-marital. Is it new and unusual or something? Are they having sex on television or something extremely freaky? I'm having a hard time understanding the outrage of certain people over a common human practice.
Name a time in American history or World history, for that matter, where some leaders, somewhere, weren't found to be fooling around on his or her supposed life partner (wife, husband, friends, etc.) and I'll get off the subject.
Yes, I know there are wonderful exceptions to the wanton rule, but it keeps happening enough to at least be taken in stride, since the majority of finger pointers usually practice the same sort of undercover freaking.
Point is, must we always act so surprised and outraged at public officials' behavior, each and every time they are caught with their underwear down?
Seems awful pretentious to me.
That's enough for now. Bye-Bye!

Obama's Former Minister was right!

Hello Dear Readers!

Once again I feel the need to go political on you, so bear with me, okay?
(picture from blackpeopleloveus.com/)

I am stunned by the short memories that people seem to have in regards to what the American Government will and won't do. If the shameful situation of the Natives of this great land isn't enough to alert and alarm; we should at least be aware of the hell the same government put us (so-called Black People) through just to be considered full citizens! Black people have fought for and died in every war this country ever had; nothing was ever "given" us.
Hello! 400 full years of slavery would piss off anybody!

So when Obama's former Minister was caught with "God Damn America" on his lips, (which no doubt was taken completely out of context) the idiot nay-sayers jumped on the bandwagon straight from the banana boat and tried to crucify Obama.

Conspiracy "Theories" my ass! How about Conspiracy fact! Have we conveniently forgotten the Tuskegee Experiment, where Black men were injected with syphilis by the Public Health Service for forty years! Is it so far-fetched to consider AIDS as a manufactured disease?
Does speaking the truth mean that these stupid Negroes hate white people? (replace Negroes with Iraqis and we see yet another pattern). Absolutely not!

It should be noted that both white and Black workers were guilty of administering the deadly injections.

Are we too distracted by the "Dream" to realize the sad truth? Or worst yet, too preoccupied with murder in our hearts for Muslims that we can't be bothered to think?
I'm done for now, Bye-Bye!

Puzzling Politicians and Putrid Philosophies.

Hey Voters! (Registered or Not);
I just spit at my tv today, not something that I ordinarily do, but old stupid ass Geraldine Ferraro's idiot remarks deserved worst that the greenish glob.
"Barack Obama is succeeding in part because he is black." Who the hell is just off the Banana Boat now, sweety?
In fact, I'm almost positive there is still a clause or amendment hidden somewhere in the Constitution that says "No darkie shall sit in the White House unless he is a servant in some capacity"
Too many lives have been lost, fighting for equality in this country to belittle such a momentous
honor that Obama represents for all people of "color". Truth be told, he is a Semite, as the word once meant a person of mixed parentage.
You'd think that being married to a President would teach her to watch her mouth!

Views From The Nursing Home.

Hello Friends!

Yes, I have made it indoors for a spell. This is a nursing home on the South Side of Chicago. It gives me a chance to finally scrape off the dirt and relax a little. May have even gained a few pounds, which in my case is a good thing.

This is truly a microcosm of the real world, with good people, bad people and some just plain crazy! But I'm not complaining. I'm happy to be here, in fact.

I had to walk around and bug people to get the proper information about the rules and regulations in this institution, the times to do things like eat and sleep, wash clothes, etc., etc.

So very strange. I can, to a great extent, understand just way people don't like living in nursing homes.

For the most part, the CNA's treat the people like they are all somehow deficient and therefore beneath them. There are some welcome exceptions to this sad situation.

For my part, I hope to get a job, and finally get a tiny apartment quite soon, for this is nowhere near being home. In truth, I find I'm still homeless.

But this will change.

Bye-Bye for now!

I'm Not Black; I'm Reddish Brown.

The more I think about it, the more I am forced to conclude that the thing about race is a big fat trick.Oh, sure. I know the old excuse for such categories is supposedly scientific. Members of the Human Family. Right.
Trouble is, there are about as many actual "Black" people as there are "White" people. None.
I have seen some seriously "dark" people in my life, but none qualify for the term "Black". And if there ever was any "White" people, they were so pale they were dead!
Please. Let's get real people. The clever, if evil, notion is to place Africans of any decent beneath
the "pure" Whites.
Such mischief! Useful subliminal trick working for those who claim such a title, and against those usually blind folks at the negative end. Proof?
Right in the Neighborhood. Do you really think "Blacks" always killed each other like they do now? Not!
Oh, to be precise, there always has been killing, But in my 57 years on this Planet, I have never seen it to the extreme I am witnessing it in the present.
Some people have never really fallen for the trick. I have never heard an Asian person call themselves "Yellow". Or the proud natives of this land call themselves "Red".
Deep stuff, huh?
See ya next time....

Brother From Another Planet!

Hi to Friends, National and International;

Today we explore the use of expletives in everyday language.

For the longest time I have been attempting to understand the use of the word "motherfucker".

Is it a noun or a verb? Just who's mother is being fucked? I suppose the word makes sense if you consider the fact that a woman must get fucked to become a mother, most of the time.

But it is obviously used to represent something foul.

Why not "fatherfucker"? Or auntiefucker? Or teacherfucker? Or sherifffucker? Hmmmmm?
This is such a deep subject, that I find I must continue with my study of it.
And what about this "son of a bitch" profantity?
If one were to call to anyone's mother a bitch, a fight would break out in seconds. It seems to me that to qualify to be a "son of a bitch" (bitch being female dog), your mother has to be a bitch!
And again,why not a "daughter of a bitch",or "friend of a bitch?
Well, enough for now, readers.
Welcome us back next time when we explore the use of colors in language to describe human beings. Deep stuff!
See Ya Next Time!

Global Warming; Nikola Tesla had the Answer...

Hi Friends and Fans!

Chicago weather has gotten so strange! One day it is warm and balmy and another day the temperature had dropped to 16 degrees.

Some say it is the Global Warming, which seems reasonable.

But suppose that the answer for emissions from autos was arrived at by some clever inventor a century ago. There might not be any holes in the ozone layer. Green House gases would be unheard of.

Suppose even the need to burn fossil fuels would be rendered null and void by a better and much more practical approach using permanent magnet motors for everything from tiny dc motors to massive ac Power Company-type motors.

Suppose the same Power Companies could beam electricity anywhere in the would like radio and satellite signals, to be used by anyone who possessed the correct equipment.

No High-Power Lines!

Want to hear something even stranger?

All of the above inventions actually were invented!

Meet Nikola Tesla, people!

This amazing man was undeniably one of the greatest minds of his time.

But he was so advanced that many of his ideas were thought of as the ramblings of a mad man. In fact he was called the original "Mad Scientist" by the ignorant media-types. This caused much mindless fear of this great man's inventions in the public masses.
But the Profit Monger, Edison, worked hard to stop Tesla's progress, out of sheer desire to make money, and a deep hatred of his once-assistant.
Edison caused the destruction of one of Tesla's greatest efforts that would have allowed beamed electricity to be used world-wide!
Guess who made big money after that? Old Con-Ed himself.

I've got to go. See Ya next time for more about this incredible person!
Bye-Bye!

Whew! Made Another Year!

Hi Everyone!

Add another year to your life, people. All of the ugly things that could have happened didn't and we have only the Almighty One to thank for that! Things are looking up, for real!

I suspect recently that I met a reader of this blog at my favorite night spot, the 2nd district Police Station recently, although I'm not exactly sure.

She asked what so many have asked before, "Why are you out here?"

Quite frankly, I was fighting fatigue when I refused the offer of a hot meal, so if you are still around, try it again, alright?

In the meantime I have been using those amazing Hand Warmers to help maintain my body heat out here. The ones by Grabber seem to be the best to me. They are far from the handwarmer by Zippo, but they are a close second.

I may seem to be rambling a bit, because I'm excited for this coming year! So much I want to do!

I'll see you again soon, alright?

Bye, Bye!
