A Salute to Our People in the Armed Forces!

Hi Friends!

It has occurred to me that Veteran's Day is here, and while we honor the Veteran, who fought to keep the USA free, We shouldn't forget the soldiers who are still over in foreign lands that are presently fighting and dying.

I hated this war from the start, but I fully understand the mindset of the individual who goes to war, believing he is doing it for his Country.

However misplaced such a noble notion is, I still support the Armed Services. From the basic soldier to the Highly posted Chief, I thank you for your efforts in our behalf.

Vets out there! Let me know how you feel! Drop me a comment, Alright?

In the meantime, click on the Cognigen site and purchase a low-cost Calling Card. It helps with those long distance calls.

Bye-Bye for now...

Bums are Green-Friendly!

It's so true! The amount of money it takes to maintain your local homeless person is tiny next to the average USA citizen.
For instance, homeless people wear clothes that people no longer want or can't wear. A single shower, (once in a while) eases the hot water concerns and batteries are used for musical entertainment; rarely is anything bought new.
The same plastic bottle is used over and over again for water (sometimes longer than is safe.)
Some enterprising homeless people will take out their shopping carts in the early morning and collect aluminum. If it suddenly became profitable to pick up the plastic bottles, they would do that too!
At an increasing number of Churches people eat and eat healthy, also. The hospital supplies the needed health care, under certain emergencies.
Needless to say, it is not top draw living, but it is Green living to a good degree.

If you get a chance, go to my Cognigen Site and do a little shopping! Really! You Will Like What You See.
See You Next Time, God Willing!

Sometimes, Things Are Exactly What They Look LIke!!

HI again friends, Romans, and whatever,

While coming to the library today, fresh from the Plains, I spotted the local tramp at the bus-stop on 51st.

Now I know what you must be thinking; "What the hell is he drinking? He is a tramp himself, isn't he?

True Dat. But compared to that bus stop tramp I look like a man with big money.

Am I looking down on him? No. In fact, I admire him.

He has a beard, beaded with food (we both frequent the same pot luck cafe aka soup line), and he hasn't changed his clothes for nearly a year. He carries an assortment of plastic bottles on a clothes line.

I find that fascinating!

He lays on the bottles, keeping his body off the cold concrete. A lumpy, but life-saving measure. A great idea!
He should get a metal or something for that idea. Help me buy that man a metal. Or just visit the Business Site and do it for the love of Homeless People.
Bye-Bye, til next time....

Dress Warm, Homeless People!!

Hey Everybody!

Your Uncle HBM here, saying; "Don't forget to put on the layers out there!"

It really is late fall and "Indian Summer" is over. Time for the long johns and tall sallys and knee-high white sox. I'm really thinking about getting some of those really cool battery-operated sox and gloves. From what I can tell, they're the bomb!

I would enjoy being able to laugh at the Arctic winds while others shiver in the cruel "hawk" (predator Chicago winds).

I also am seriously considering the "tent" set-up this winter. Yeah, Yeah. I know what you're thinking out there. "That fool HBM is gonna freeze his little worm off!"

Not. I also plan to carry some of those little candles. I was reading (yes, I can read something other than Blogs.......) a survival manual and it showed how to warm a tent with a little candle, which makes perfect sense.

I also need a self-inflating, thin floor mat to raise my body off the cold ground and spare myself the ugly specter of heat deprivation. No sense in testing the laws of Thermodynamics (I know big words too, so there).

I'm on the hunt for a Bandominium (abandoned building). My wonderful Zero degrees sleeping bag shows signs of meeting it's design limits.

Does anyone out there have one of those great Zippo handwarmers? Help your Uncle HBM out here and I won't have to show up at your house with my dirty-ass, stinky clothes and embarass the hell out of you. Imagine what the neighbors would say!

Also remember to visit my Business Site. The Holidays are coming and you will talk up a blue streak on the phone.

Until Next Time.......

The Streets Are Never Empty.

Hail yes, and a Hearty Yo to you all!

Once again we find ourselves at the open doors of that Crazy Homeless Guy some people know as the Mighty HBM!

A strikingly good-looking fellow he is, leaving a trail of broken hearts everywhere he goes. He has a belly-full of laughter and is fun to be around.

Once you get past the smell, you will find him sharp and engaging, highly opinionated, and if that isn't great enough, he is always right!

Wonder of wonders!

And yes, There's More!

Walk with him as he shows off his huge living room, designed without walls to bring the outdoors in.

Marvel at his massive estate grounds which cover 3 miles of city blocks in the lovely and bucolic area known as Bronzeville, Chicago , IL.

Feel free to drop in at his airy bedroom and gawk at him as he stretches and farts in his elegant sleeping bag!

Sight-seeing just doesn't get any better than this! All this for absolutely nothing. Just click on the Link and buy a minimum of 10 calling cards and you're entered into our contest to chose some lucky individual to actually eat pot luck lunch with this famous and handsome celebrity.

Don't hesitate! Seating are going like hotcakes!

This offer is limited, so hurry up, yo! Must bring your own spoon and delousing powder. Contest winners will be notified when I get good and ready. Not liable for cutting a fool who wakes HBM. Some contents of the pot luck lunch might irritate sensitive stomachs. Don't hurt HBM, don't follow HBM home, and most importantly, give him all your money! You willbe so happy you did!

Getting Settled In...

This place is really interesting. The Christian Industrial League has done a good job with this facility. For the first time in a long time, I feel I can rest here for a while.
I plan to continue this blog as long as I'm allowed to . After all, I must respect the wishes of those who run the place.
Shout back at a Brother once in a while, ahright?
Boy, oh, boy! The luxury of a soft bed to lay on. It is to rejoice!
In addition, this will give me a chance (during the winter), to study about business blogs. I plan to build a serious blog soon, so look for it!
The Program here lasts about 6 months. By then I should be able to get a handle on the business blog subject.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
In the meantime, go to my Business Site and buy 10 cell phones, okay? I may be in for the Winter, but this is not my home. So help an old man get off the streets, will you?
Bye, bye till later...

I'm Movin' Slower Nowadays...

This knee of mine is giving me the flux! For real! I feel older than I ever have before. Time for some serious Ben Gay or Heet timeout!
I'm not complaining. I'm just giving the FYI to my thousands and thousands of fans ( Hi, Duster!).
Anywho, I am working toward an rss feed soon so I can beef up my blog, maybe even afford a small digital camera to take pictures.
Hoo, Hoo!
There's no stopping me now, babee! I checked my business account and saw a staggering amount of $0.38 cents. Someone is paying attention.
Someone once said that riches start with pennies. I just hope the riches part comes a little quicker, so I can get off the cold floor and get a place! (is the begging too obvious?)
In the meantime, get your new cell phone and calling cards from me and enjoy!
Bye, bye for now...

HBM Notes..

It is common wisdom to simply accept what one doesn't understand immediately and chuck them into the "Great Mysteries of Life" pile, located somewhere in the mind.
After a while, the pile grows to the point of distraction, so you must either rename it or have it renamed for you, often by society in general.
I personally guard my pile, however putrid it becomes, against classification. As time goes on, I dig out the old questions and Dust (love ya, Duster) them off, one by one, answering or at least, refining them.
Answered questions have gone full circle and are placed into static memory forever. Refined questions return to the pile, and become reusable as food for the soul.
That said, I often state what seems like simply questions, because I can't stand the half-assed approach to research (or non-research) that seems to dominate many people's habits.
What exactly is Cognigen, for instance?
Answer. One of the Best sites available for buying phones, cell phones and other such items.
Don't take my word for it. Check it out, Alright?
See Ya Later, Gator...

Let's Live With Music!!!

I love good music. I'm a bit stuck into "Old School" stuff, but I'm truly crazy about Brazilian Jazz. "Desafinado" is one of my very faves, no matter who sings it.
I must admit, without my beat-up cd player to block out the Holy Rollers in the Mission I sometimes stay at, I might just be a little more tense and unhappy, to say the least.
It helps a great deal with the snorers in the sleeping area, too.
I wouldn't dare wear it outside. I used to, before these foolish kids (they were big, but they acted like children) clubbed me upside the head in an attempt to rob me of my meager belongings.
But back to music. I bought me some used headphones to go with my used cd player and I've had these things for 3 years now. Sexy Astrud Gilberto never sounded so good! A good place to get good Brazilian Jazz is at http://www.connectbrazil.com/. Jet on over there if you're a Bassa nut like me and enjoy!
And download it on your cellphone that you buy from me, alright?
Samba you later....

Don't Make It Hard On Yourself...

It's another one of those things I just can't understand. Life is rough. Everyone who is breathing in and out has it tough some kind of way. It's the first rule of Life that one must get aquainted with.
So let's say, Joe has a bad day. He sees Sam and gives him a hard time because he feels bad.
Why?
Given that something life-threatening isn't happening at that point and poor Sam hasn't added to Joe's bad day, why would Joe lay his burden so completely on Sam?
Sorry. I'm extremely slow, because I don't understand such logic. It seems to me that if Sam didn't do anything to cause or increase Joe's bad day, he should not be afflicted with Joe's negative emotional state.
It seems reasonable to me that if Sam is innocent of any guilt in the matter of Joe's bad day, then at least peace should be shown Sam, if not joy, even as a front. Because unless they are the cause of your unhappiness, you must shoulder your own burden as best as you can.
Let me know if you agree, alright?
In the meantime, click on my Business Site and buy a cell phone or related services. You'll be doing me a great favor and you'll get a great deal as well, okay?
Bye-Bye...

Late In The Season...

It getting late in the year now, and it's time for me to consider seriously where and how I'm going to live here in Chicago. The cold is coming and there's no stopping it. The "Hawk" (wind) bites hard in the Windy City. Once called the Windy City because of the political long-windiness back in the day, it turns out to be true for swift winds off Lake Michigan in the winter.
The main hope of any homeless person is to get off the street, so as to not lose a body part to cold, or worst. It is always best to start earlier, because the rush to get into The Salvation Army, Christian Industrial League, and other such places during the cold season will reach it's zenith sometime in November. That's when the cold wind slaps reality into the minds of the reluctant (those who don't want to live in the before-named places).
I hope that the place I go to has computers on the property or somewhere nearby, so that I can keep up my blog.
One day soon, once I know where I am going to live, I'll post the phone number so you guys can call me, alright? Be sure to check out my business site and get some minutes on that cell phone, people! Next time...

Bag Upgrade...

I have finally bought something on wheels to lug this 70 or 80lbs of stuff I own. Oh boy, what a relief it is!!
My poor knee was suffering something fierce for weeks now. I also got a new pair of shoes just in case the problem was a falling arch or such.
Oh sure, it still hurts. But I can sense that the worst is over, and the best is yet to come! Sometimes we accept pain so easily that we integrate it into our daily lives without much thought on the subject. That pain and limp was wearing me out.
I feel truly liberated!
Enough of an old man's joy, let's talk about your reason for clicking on the Cognigen link here. Not only will you save a great deal of money on your phone needs, but you get the good feeling of helping an old homeless guy get a little funds. Two for the price of one! Where else can you say that, eh? Go ahead, don't be shy. It won't cost you a thing to see for yourself. Write me and tell me what you think, okay! Until then, Bye-Bye!

Life is So Strange, Sometimes..

While there is no doubt that it is hard, life can sometimes show you different aspects of it you might not be expecting.
Take for instance the odd occurrence that recently happened to me. As I was sitting out at my spot on the lovely "plains" at Federal and 53rd streets I was approached by a kindly lady and her little daughter.
She explained that she happened to see me when she walked the dog, and wondered if there was anything she could do for me.
Now, it's not often that I get such an offer. Most people are in a hurry to get away from me, not then, but 5 minutes ago! I did need a sheet to cover me when it was too hot for the sleeping bag and to protect against the insects at night, so I told her so.
Later in the month she returned. But I haven't seen her since. I must admit to missing her and her almost-grown 6 year-old (I guess). I often wonder what happened. Did she suddenly come to her senses and realize she was trying to help a bum? At least she did try and communicate.
Speaking of communicate, click on the link and check out this cell phone company for me, huh? I could really use the help. Thanks. See you later down the line, God Willing...

When It Rains,It Rains!

I've been having trouble lately with the wet weather we've been having. Had to go to the policestation over on 51st street. Wasn't too bad. Got kicked out at 5am this morning, though.
I had to change my shoes 'cause my knee is in serious pain and I assumed that problem is in the shoes, themselves. So I changed them. I must have looked a little worst for wear, hobbling around like I was, because the bus driver of the CTA bus stopped and gave me a free ride!
Thank God! I was really hurting today.
Lately I have been turning over in my head the consideration of getting and holding a job (winter is coming after all). I can only hope that the market hasn't changed too much, because then I might stand a chance.
Need to charge up my cell phone just a little. Cognigen is known for it's great deals in this area, so give it a try! If enough of you guys do that, I might not have to carry my old butt to Labor World! Bye-Bye..

These Bugs Are Buggin'!

I really am pissed about the bugs at night over at my spot on the "plains". Mosquitoes nibbled on my poor skin at least 5 times despite my best efforts to ward off the tiny vampires. I was thinking I would get some netting, but then it might be better if I bought the tent instead, since it will soon get cold, and I'll need it anyway.
Besides, it (tent) will also serve as shelter against the increasing number of rain storms we've been having, lately.
I tried using painter's drop cloth (plastic). It covered me well but the problem was the condensation inside would get me wet anyway. Well, when I get my little funds soon, I'll definitely get a good tent.
Speaking of good ones, you might want to try this
cell phone link and save some really good money on these cells and other such electronics. Think of it as a helping hand and not a handout! See ya later...

This Old Body..

I never truly appreciated how hard this life is on one's poor body. I routinely carry 50-70lbs of "stuff" with me everywhere I go. These things represent everything I own in the world. When you see the weary carrying their goods on their backs, stop short of pointing fingers and laughing.
Pray for them instead.
This poorly maintained physical form breaks down over a period of time, anyway. Those who live on the street have very serious health issues as a rule. Every new sickness that hits the country starts first in the homeless community.
I remember when I was diagnosed as having prostate cancer. I had no idea that the things I was going through (inability to hold urine, sleepiness and endless fatigue)wheren't just old age, but really symtoms of cancer.
This is the way it is for the majority of homeless people in varying degrees.
But enough of the sad things in life, lets consider your cell phone bills and how to lessen them. Be sure to click on the link and get some great deals on cell phones and other electronic must-have items. Do it! Until next time...

Would It Hurt So Much To Smile,Chicago?

I have lived in Chicago most of my adult life and I still can't get over how cold people are here. While I understand the racist nature of the city's past,I keep trying to speak to people as I walk by on the street. It seems to me to be a sign of civilization; the greeting of strangers as you walk down the street.
Not today though. They look at you like you're crazy for even speaking to them. So very sad.
I remember a time when everyone spoke to the other. Good Morning! How are you doing?Beautiful day out, huh? What is the harm in that, for God's Sake?
Some of the poor people look at you as if they are staring at tv; a long haunted glare.
I long for the day that people will actually take the time to know one another. However, there is still the usual method of communication; phones. Click on the link to visit Cognigen, and save big money on your greeting efforts! See Ya...

A New Sleeping Bag Makes All The Difference!

I have finally bought myself a sleeping bag. Beats the hell out of sheets. No more shivering in the cold, moist mornings anymore. Praise God! this encourages me to consider trying to pitch a tent when it gets colder.
The only thing is I got a bag that is rated down to 0 degrees! Hot, sometimes, but as the night wears on it becomes comfortable. Now if only I could do something about these damn biting-ass bugs!
I just don't have the kind of money to spend on Deet every night. Besides, that stuff is made for occasional nights out, not everyday.
I hope you guys don't forget me on the business end of this post. Click on this Special Link and get some great deals on cells phones and the like. You won't regret it. Until next time..

The Jewels of a Homeless Life..

There is no doubt that although I don't want to homeless, I nonetheless manage to make things easier for myself. They are just little things, but they are important. Consider this.
At night, sometimes the mosquitoes seem to be getting the best of me. I cover up well, but they attack the one area of my body I have a rough time hiding from view. My hands!
I solved the problem like this: I've got plenty of the plastic bags I carry around, and so I decided to use them to cover my hands.
Joy! No more bites. I still have limited use of my hand without exposing them to the blood-sucking bugs. Hands do tend to get sweaty, but it's well worth it.
Now I know my readers are probably saying to themselves, "What about some Deet, stupido?"
Answer. One word. Money.
Whci brings me to the "business" part of this blog.
Keep in mind that I really need everyone who visits this site to at least check out this company called Cognigen. Most of the major cell phone companies are on the site and you may save yourself a lot of cash! Besides, as I will keep reminding you, this will go a long way toward getting me off the streets! Thanks and I'll see you later..

Step One: Do Everything That's Free First!

Believe it or not, the majority of stuff one needs to do is free. Set the email account, of course (note: no, I'm not insulting your intelligence, I'm just assuming that everyone is as stressed and slow as I am, okay? Remember, I sleep in noisy shelters and mostly outdoors.)
You could do like I have and use a blogger to express yourself while offering useful items.
Speaking of useful items, I came across a great affiliate site that some of you probably know already; Cognigen. Sort of a large storehouse of electronics, in particular, regular and cell phones and related services.
Check them out! This place is the best! I'm not just saying that to get sales either! Clicking on the links will give you the huge satisfaction of helping a homeless man. The use of the sight is totally free ( provided you don't try and change anything) and the range of items and powerful communications companies that support them will impress you.
I'm still reading the wealth of information that they have. I feel like they really want you to succeed! Pay special attention to the residual income section. Hmmmm...Later....
